Project Overview

The Ucluelet Elementary and Secondary Schools were built in sections between 1947 and 1981, with the secondary school gym and trade blocks added in 1973. These schools house the district’s traditional program for Grades K-12 and are attended by approximately 450 students.
The project includes four phases of Elementary School seismic upgrades as well as a new elevator, and three phases of Secondary School seismic upgrades along with construction of a new administration wing and academic building. The project also includes a new neighborhood learning centre which will provide more child care spaces in the community. The school has also secured additional funding for a new emergency backup generator. This project not only ensures protection during a seismic event, but also a safe place for the community to muster in the event of a power outage.
