The North Surrey Arena Complex features three sheets of ice. Two sheets focus on hockey programming, with the third focused on functional public programs. Francl Architects design includes careful siting and massing, and an architectural wood roof structure, all intended to generate a development lift within the South Westminster area. The facility is nestled into the Fraser embankment, which provides a natural setting and immediate access for exterior recreational uses. The proximity to the SkyTrain will ensure it is easily accessible to residents from beyond North Surrey.
Alan Nicholson led the development of the design-build performance specification document and contract. We structured the procurement to entice competition and excitement from the various proponents.
